Honor and Society's Views of Women
This article kinda hits me right at home because it discusses different concepts of lying along with stimulating ideas about how women are treated or what is expected from them. As a male I can't fully understand what it would be like to be a women in our current society, but just based on what I see I get the feeling it would be a complete shitstorm. I will agree with most of society that women have made large strides with moving towards equality but they still aren't there. Its also our media that hinders that progress. Media influences how people look at almost everything. Is there not a stigma attacked to women saying that they are the stay at home parents who take care of the kids and the house? Well even in my home its half that way. I look at my own mother who indeed does all of that but still works full time. She earns a really nice amount of our income and yet still has to come home and do stuff like laundry, clean, and even drive my younger sibling to basketball games. I see how hard of a worker my own mother is and yet our society does almost everything possible to make women seem like can't do it. Another key ideal that is imporant to me but not really discussed in detail in this article is which "type" of women is "attractive". I hate to say it but my own "perfect" women fits the stereotypical, media-portrayed, female. However I believe that every women is beautiful in thier own way and shouldnt strive to fit the image of what our public wants. People have to undestand that the only person who it matters to is you. Back to the "notes on lying" dont lie to yourself. Females and males shouldn't try to fit a stereotype of appearance. How you look should be for yourself. Everytime you change your look or how you act because you want to impress someone you are just lying to yourself and to them. Be yourself and be honest, its what matters more in a real relationship than how you look.
